Q50 and Q60 Should Not Be Treated as Renamed G-Series Cars

The Infiniti Q50 and Q60 belong to a later stage of Infiniti’s performance-car lineup.

They should not simply be approached as though the G35 and G37 were renamed.

The model year, engine, systems involved, symptoms, and diagnostic information still determine what should be tested.

A Q50 warning light may provide stored fault information that identifies the affected system.

That does not automatically mean the component named in the code description has failed.

The code tells us what the vehicle detected.

Diagnosis determines what created that condition.

QX50, QX60, and QX80: “QX” Does Not Identify One Vehicle

The QX designation covers substantially different Infiniti crossovers and SUVs.

A QX50, QX60, and QX80 can differ in:

• Overall size
• Engine and configuration
• Component placement
• Accessibility
• Repair procedure

That makes the full model designation important.

Saying only “I have an Infiniti QX” does not provide enough information to determine what system or repair procedure applies.

Accessibility Can Change the Repair Decision

If the refrigerant level is low, the refrigerant escaped somewhere.
